From CNN: House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Mike McCaul (R - Texas) said Speaker Johnson showed true leadership. “Johnson said, ‘I want to be on the right side of history.’ This is a real profile in courage.” McCaul drew analogies between the US posture toward Putin and Britain’s appeasement of Nazi Germany under one prime minister (Chamberlain) and the stalwart resistance of his successor (Churchill). “As we deliberate on this vote, you have to ask yourself this question: Am I Chamberlain or Churchill?” he said. The accidental speaker (Johnson) became an unlikely Churchill.
